Blog Carnival: Exposing others to Your Audience

iStock_000005749512XSmallWhat is a blog carnival?

I was actually first introduced to blog carnivals when poking around Steve Pavlina’s blog.  For those of you who don’t know, Mr. Pavlina is someone who’s got both marketing and blogging right, and a great success story on the web (and very public about his success).  Blog carnivals are great for people just starting out with blogging, because:

  1. They’re essentially free marketing, where a post you’ve written is published as a link on another person’s blog
  2. They improve your SEO by providing incoming links to your site from other people’s blogs
  3. Hosting a blog carnival introduces your readers to other blogs that might be of value to them

The main resource for blog carnivals is…um…Blog Carnival.  You create an account there and you can either create a blog carnival or participate in one.  Participants submit their blog articles to hosts that are gathering posts on a particular topic (in my case, blogging and social media).  Regardless of whether you want to be a participant or host, it’s all free.  It’s perfect to gain notoriety on a few related sites.

So I’ve been a participant for a while, but now I’m taking the opportunity to be a host.  Please see our submissions this week below.  We have some great articles out there and I encourage you to go and check out the different articles out there.  If successful, we’ll make this a regular feature on this blog.  For now, enjoy!
